A Note from the Principal

Welcome to Term 2 and what a start it has been.
I would like to thank every member of our community for being so supportive as we are navigating our way through such unknown territory as COVID-19. Important skills such as grit, resilience, flexibility and adaptability are evident in our staff, students and families. Relationships and connections have been an important priority for us and we hope that we can maintain the positive partnerships that have emerged. Throughout these times, it has given our staff the opportunity to reflect on the wonderful opportunities we have at Butler Primary School and we are looking forward to building on the momentum gained.

NEW Books for the Library!

Butler Primary School has been the recipient of $6100, granted equally from Alkimos Vista Seeding Fund and Dymocks Children’s Charities to replenish books in our Library. Butler Primary School would like to offer the Alkimos Vista and Dymocks Children’s Charities our sincerest thanks as it has enabled us to add over 370 new books to our Library collection.
About Dymocks Children’s Charities
Our mission is to promote a love of reading and improve literacy outcomes for all Australian children. We provide brand new books to children in priority locations throughout Australia. We do this because children who are exposed to books and read regularly from a young age have better educational outcomes and lead healthier and happier lives. We believe all children should have the tools they need to thrive, regardless of their background.

What’s On In
Year 1
It has been a very different start to Term 2 and the Year 1’s have been using some new technology tools to help us with online learning. One of these tools is Vimeo which has enabled the teachers to record parts of lessons for students to watch online. This tool has proven so useful that we will look to continue using it for our classroom learning.
Please enjoy our visual telling of our Talk for Writing story The Very Clumsy Click Beetle.

Library

We are excited that the Library is up and running with all classes visiting each week and students borrowing books. Please remember that to be allowed to borrow books, children must have a library bag. A simple plastic bag will protect the borrowed library book.
On behalf of Butler Primary, the Library remains the collecting point for Lids for Kids. To ensure hygiene, only clean washed lids will be accepted. Milk bottle and soft drink lids are the most common lids. Unfortunately, pop-top lids cannot be donated. Thank you for continuing to support this fabulous project.

School Parking Information
To help ease congestion around the school during peak times we encourage families to walk their children to and from school wherever possible, especially in fine weather or park at the Community Centre car park and walk your children across the oval.
All Staff park at the front of the school which frees up all the bays in the public car park off Camborne Way.
Families are reminded that parking is not permitted on grassed kerbside areas around the Pre-primary car park and along Tollesbury Avenue, as well as the bricked median strip in Camborne Parkway or across any footpaths. Parking is also not permitted in bus bays. Please consider the safety of all other road users and pedestrians when parking and leaving schools grounds.
Please also give consideration and respect to owners of properties surrounding the school and do not park on their properties or verges without the permission of the homeowner.
All usual road and parking rules apply around the school and parking fines are issued by rangers (who visit the school frequently) to those not adhering to the road rules. We encourage you to obey all parking and road rules for the safety of all families.
