The Pre-Primary children had lots of fun with Mrs Lawrence during the Princess Margaret Hospital incursion. Mrs Lawrence brought her dolly Charlese with her and all the children were able to diagnose her injuries and practice their bandaging skills, whilst dressing up as doctors and nurses. Everyone enjoyed pushing each other around in a real wheelchair and trying to move around the playground with crutches.

Pre Primary
During Term Four our Pre Primary children have been learning about different occupations in our community. On Friday, 20th of October we were treated to a visit from the Butler Fire Station. Each student got the opportunity to see a fire engine up close and spray the high-pressure fire hose. We were also shown the different protective clothing that the fire fighters wear and learnt about fire safety and what to do in an emergency.
Well done to the Pre Primary children who all listened intently and asked some great questions. The highlight was definitely getting to use the fire hose.

Room D3
D3 were very lucky this week to get a special visitor to their classroom. A students' aunt bought two rescued joeys to the classroom and taught D3 its Aboriginal name. The joeys will be released into the wild when they are able to fend for themselves.

2017 CAMP DANCE OFF!
Students of Room 8 performed their assembly on Thursday, 2nd November, in which they participated in a friendly 'Dance Off' to re-enact one of our memorable moments from camp. Girls and boys were to battle it out to the familiar tunes from Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and Backstreet Boys. Students spent weeks choreographing and rehearsing their dance moves in order to claim the title of being the ‘The Best Dancer’. In the end, the judges had the difficult decision to choose which gender had the sweetest dance moves, with the final decision being a draw. It was a huge success! An exceptional performance by Room 8!

Parent Parking
To help ease congestion around the school during peak times we encourage families to walk their children to and from school wherever possible, especially in fine weather or park at the Community Centre car park and walk your children across the oval.
All Staff park at the front of the school. This will free up all bays in the public car park off Cambourne Way.
Families are reminded that parking is not permitted on grassed kerbside areas around the Pre-primary car park and along Tollesbury Avenue, as well as the bricked median strip in Cambourne Parkway or across any footpaths. Parking is also not permitted in bus bays. Please consider the safety of all other road users and pedestrians when parking and leaving schools grounds.
Please also give consideration and respect to owners of properties surrounding the school.
All usual road and parking rules apply around the school and parking fines are issued by rangers (who visit frequently) to those not adhering to the road rules. Please download the map below for parent parking information.
School Payment Options Available

Absentee Messaging Service
Due to the ease of this service, the sending of a text message to Butler Primary School to notify us of your child/ren’s absence has been embraced by many families.
Please send absentee messages through to 0419 091 075 with all of the following details so we can correctly update student records:
- Full name of your child/children
- Reason for absence
- Date of absence
Absences can also be phoned through to the office on 9562 1804.
As per Department of Education policy, it is the parent’s responsibility to notify the school of the reason for your child’s absence/s within three days of the absence. Failure to do this will mean that the absence will be marked as “unacceptable reason” affecting your child’s education and attendance record.
Students Arriving Late
Any student arriving late to school, after the siren sounds at 8.35am, will need to enter the school through the front office to collect a late note which is to be given to their class teacher.
Update Student Contact Information
If you have recently changed mobile numbers or moved address, it is important you update your contact information with the office. Please also advise if there is a change to any of your emergency contact information.
Siren Times
Please note the change in time for recess and lunch this year. The start and finish times for school remain the same.

Chaplain’s Corner
HI Everyone,
Here we are in Week 6 and a little more than halfway through Term 4. Wow! Is anyone else finding it hard to keep up with how quickly the weeks are passing by? I sure am. Here are a few words about time to reflect on…

Let us make the most of the time we have left in Term 4, keep up the amazing work and take time to look after ourselves so that we can finish well and enjoy our holidays ahead.
Looking at our Core Values: Integrity, Community, Respect, Responsibility & Aspire.
This brought me to thinking about the many soldiers we honoured on Remembrance Day, 11th November. How they lived and fought with integrity, embraced the spirit of community in their mateship, the respect we show for their sacrifice, the responsibility they took on in protecting our country, and how we can aspire to have the courage the many men and women had.
Wishing everyone a fabulous fortnight!
Kind regards,
Ms Hunter

The Future Savers app features augmented reality, letting students explore the future world, play games and learn about money with the Dollarmites in 3D.
Students who play the Future Savers app and complete the online entry form during the competition period will get a chance to win one of 50 Nintendo Switch Neon Console Packs. They will also need to make three or more School Banking deposits during the competition period, which gives them a chance to win one of the High Tech Prizes as well, including racing robots, activity trackers and 3D pen sets.
After making 10 School Banking deposits, students can choose from the 3D Chalk Set, Colour Change Markers, Smiley Emoji Keyring, Volt Handball, Tablet Case, Pencil & Tech case or Epic earphones.
Prizes are available until stocks run out. To order their prize, students can put a note in their deposit book with their name, class and prize. If your child isn't sure how many tokens they have, they can put in a note in their deposit book or see me in the banking room (in the undercover area) on Thursday mornings.
