A Note from the Principal
Well it looks like spring is finally here and the sun was shining for our Faction Carnival. What a great day we had, from the moment the students marched onto the oval in their Factions, chanting loudly, to the announcement of the winning Faction. Thank you to the P&C for fundraising for our gazebos which made an excellent addition to our Faction bays. I would like to congratulate all students on their wonderful behaviour and sportsmanship. Thank you to all staff who ensured that our tabloids ran smoothly and encouraged all students to participate.
It’s events like this that bring our school community together for the benefit of all students. Thank you to all parents who supported this wonderful day.

Notice to all Parents Students arriving late to school after the siren sounds at 8.30am, need to enter the school through the front office to collect a late note which is to be given to their class teacher. This will help alleviate the problem of parents receiving an SMS at 10.00am advising that their child is absent when in fact they are at school. |

Woolworths Earn & Learn 2017 Dear Parents, This year we will be participating in the Woolworths Earn & Learn program. Through this program we will be able to get new educational resources for our school and all we need you to do is shop for your groceries at Woolworths. From Wednesday 26th July to Tuesday 19th September, we are collecting Woolworths Earn & Learn Stickers. You will get one Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker for every $10 spent (excluding liquor, tobacco and gift cards). Place the Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker onto a Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker Sheet and when it’s complete, the Sticker Sheet can be dropped into the Collection Box here at the school or at your local Woolworths. At the end of the promotion, we’ll be able to get some great new equipment. The range is extensive and offers lots of items ideal for our students – including resources for Maths, English, Science and some fantastic fun supplies for Arts & Craft, Sport and for our library. If you’d like to know more visit http://www.woolworths.com.au/earnandlearn |

The day the Choir had being working towards all year had finally arrived – Friday 18th, August was the One Big Voice concert! It started off with our train ride in to the city from the Butler Station. There was a lot of enthusiasm and excitement on the train as the students were buzzing with chatter and practising their repertoire.

Upon arriving at the Perth Arena, it was plain to see there were plenty of other schools lining up, just as excited to get inside for the rehearsal and concert. The students were very proud to be wearing their brand new Choir t-shirts, accompanied by smart black trousers and skirts. What a good looking Choir!

PP5 – Farm Time at Kindy
This term the Kindy classes are exploring the theme of Farm. The children have enjoyed interacting with several friendly farm animals that have come to visit. The children have been involved in caring for the animals and have also spent time observing their behaviour and drawing the animals. We have learnt about the use of animals to the farmer and have read fiction and non-fiction stories related to our theme.

PP6 - Growing Cress during Science Week
The children in PP6 enjoyed planting cress seeds in our Kindy classroom, using a few simple sequenced steps.
They also observed and began to understand that the seeds could be grown on compost, in a seed tray, pot, kitchen roll and cotton wool. To their great surprise, the seeds germinated extremely quickly and needed very little attention.
The children used simple language of measurement to describe and record the cress seeds growth over 5 days, well done PP6.

Parent Parking
To help ease congestion around the school during peak times we encourage families to walk their children to and from school wherever possible, especially in fine weather or park at the Community Centre car park and walk your children across the oval.
All Staff park at the front of the school. This will free up all bays in the public car park off Cambourne Way.
Families are reminded that parking is not permitted on grassed kerbside areas around the Pre-primary car park and along Tollesbury Avenue, as well as the bricked median strip in Cambourne Parkway or across any footpaths. Parking is also not permitted in bus bays. Please consider the safety of all other road users and pedestrians when parking and leaving schools grounds.
Please also give consideration and respect to owners of properties surrounding the school.
All usual road and parking rules apply around the school and parking fines are issued by rangers (who visit frequently) to those not adhering to the road rules. Please download the map below for parent parking information.

Absentee Messaging Service
Due to the ease of this service, the sending of a text message to Butler Primary School to notify us of your child/ren’s absence has been embraced by many families.
Please send absentee messages through to 0419 091 075 with all of the following details so we can correctly update student records:
- Full name of your child/children
- Reason for absence
- Date of absence
Absences can also be phoned through to the office on 9562 1804.
As per Department of Education policy, it is the parent’s responsibility to notify the school of the reason for your child’s absence/s within three days of the absence. Failure to do this will mean that the absence will be marked as “unacceptable reason” affecting your child’s education and attendance record.
Students Arriving Late
Any student arriving late to school, after the siren sounds at 8.35am, will need to enter the school through the front office to collect a late note which is to be given to their class teacher.
