IMPORTANT DATES FOR WEEKS 5 & 6 – TERM 3, 2017 Week 5, National Science Week Incursions PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT DAYS 2017 (PUPIL FREE): Monday, 21 August |
|
Notice to all Parents Students arriving late to school, after the siren sounds at 8.35am, need to enter the school through the front office to collect a late note which is to be given to their class teacher. This will help alleviate the problem of parents receiving an SMS at 10.00am advising that their child is absent when in fact they are at school. |
Woolworths Earn & Learn 2017
|
Dear Parents, This year we will be participating in the Woolworths Earn & Learn program. Through this program we will be able to get new educational resources for our school and all we need you to do is shop for your groceries at Woolworths. From Wednesday 26th July to Tuesday 19th September, we are collecting Woolworths Earn & Learn Stickers. You will get one Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker for every $10 spent (excluding liquor, tobacco and gift cards). Place the Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker onto a Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker Sheet and when it’s complete, the Sticker Sheet can be dropped into the Collection Box here at the school or at your local Woolworths. At the end of the promotion, we’ll be able to get some great new equipment. The range is extensive and offers lots of items ideal for our students – including resources for Maths, English, Science and some fantastic fun supplies for Arts & Craft, Sport and for our library. If you’d like to know more visit the link below. https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/discover/earn-and-learn |
Book Week – Second Hand Book Sale
Do you have any pre-loved books you would like to donate?

To celebrate our love of reading and sharing books at Butler PS, we will be holding a second hand book sale during Book Week. If you have any spare books at your house that you have read and would love to give someone else the chance to read and enjoy, please donate them to our book sale, we would love to share them!
All books can be dropped off at D1 to Miss Goodin or D7 to Mrs McCormick; we will take care of your pre-loved books and get them ready to sell to other Butler students.
Your book donations are much appreciated and we look forward to seeing you all at the book sale in week 6 to buy a new book of your very own!
Thanks
Miss Goodin and Mrs McCormick

Parent Parking
To help ease congestion around the school during peak times we encourage families to walk their children to and from school wherever possible, especially in fine weather or park at the Community Centre car park and walk your children across the oval.
All Staff park at the front of the school. This will free up all bays in the public car park off Cambourne Way.
Families are reminded that parking is not permitted on grassed kerbside areas around the Pre-primary car park and along Tollesbury Avenue, as well as the bricked median strip in Cambourne Parkway or across any footpaths. Parking is also not permitted in bus bays. Please consider the safety of all other road users and pedestrians when parking and leaving schools grounds.
Please also give consideration and respect to owners of properties surrounding the school.
All usual road and parking rules apply around the school and parking fines are issued by rangers (who visit frequently) to those not adhering to the road rules. Please download the map below for parent parking information.
School Payment Options Available
Butler Primary School now has eftpos facilities available in the front office!
Payment methods for charges and contributions can now be made via:
- Eftpos
- Cash or Cheque (please use the school money envelopes and place the sealed envelope in the black letter boxes. The boxes are located in the wet areas of each of the blocks and the office)
- Direct Deposit (reference student name and payment description.)
BSB: 016 338
Acc: 110391487
Absentee Messaging Service
Due to the ease of this service, the sending of a text message to Butler Primary School to notify us of your child/ren’s absence has been embraced by many families.
Please send absentee messages through to 0419 091 075 with all of the following details so we can correctly update student records:
- Full name of your child/children
- Reason for absence
- Date of absence
Absences can also be phoned through to the office on 9562 1804.
As per Department of Education policy, it is the parent’s responsibility to notify the school of the reason for your child’s absence/s within three days of the absence. Failure to do this will mean that the absence will be marked as “unacceptable reason” affecting your child’s education and attendance record.
Students Arriving Late
Any student arriving late to school, after the siren sounds at 8.35am, will need to enter the school through the front office to collect a late note which is to be given to their class teacher.
Update Student Contact Information
If you have recently changed mobile numbers or moved address, it is important you update your contact information with the office. Please also advise if there is a change to any of your emergency contact information.
Siren Times
Please note the change in time for recess and lunch this year. The start and finish times for school remain the same.

Donating Uniforms
Butler Primary School is seeking donations of uniforms, including polo shirts, dresses and suitable navy bottoms, especially in sizes 8-12. If you are able to assist please drop the clean clothing at the front office.
From the Library
What better way to spend a cold rainy winter’s day than reading? It’s something your whole family can enjoy. Snuggle up together with your children and read to them and help their imaginations run.
Book Club Issue 5/2017 is closed and orders placed. These should be delivered by the end of Week 5 and unless advised, delivered to your child’s/children’s classroom.
Dates to remember:
- 16 – 20 October 2017 – Week 2, Term 4 Scholastic Book Fair
Especially with this stormy weather, please help protect our precious library books by asking your children to use a library bag. Again, a recycled shopping bag is perfect!

Please remember, no library bag = no library book borrowing

Chaplain’s Corner
HI Everyone,
I hope you have settled in to Term 3 comfortably, and are keeping happy and healthy.
The halfway mark of term is quickly approaching! The weeks seem to fly by, reminding us to make the most of every day and every opportunity.
I have been thinking of one of our school’s core VALUES – COMMUNITY.
Yesterday I was invited to C3 Church, Quinns who were celebrating their special day “Love Perth”. On this day the church community honour and thank volunteers and organisations who work tirelessly and serve in communities where there is a great need. We as Chaplains were also thanked for our work, and the church generously blessed us and others with a donation to help us meet the needs of families in our work.
The importance of volunteers and community workers is paramount to our society. Without them, many would be lost and uncared for.
I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to all the volunteers who come in and help in our school, and provide a service which benefits our students. We appreciate each and every one of you! You are a blessing! Thank you for giving to our school community.

I wish everyone a great fortnight!
Keep safe and keep smiling!
Kind regards,
Ms Hunter
